Why did the tranny fluid all leak out?

I'M VERY VERY PSSD OFF. I've been cussing for the last 5 hours. Really I wanna type up some SH** cuz everyone at my house is tired of listening to me. But I'm gonna ask a legitimate question instead.

I replaced the axle, why did 3 quarts of tranny fluid leak out the where the axle goes into the tranny?

^that's not why im mad, i've been trying to replace the axel since 10 this morning... i've had some hard times fixing things but for once in my life I don't care about my car.

it sounds like maybe you damaged the axle seal? or maybe it wasn't seated properly??

i know what its like to be in your shoes, hang in there things will get better

If your still having problems with the axle try using a hammer and a blunt punch to pop it out and seat it, theres a notch on the outer housing that is there for this just put the bar or punch against the edge and gently tap it out or on

How much is 3 quarts (I think in Litres)

Either you damaged the seals when removing the axel, or the axel is not "clipped" in, the clip may have lost its tension.

probably the seal... i read from an earlier post up on this though that the seal comes with a new axle... now i know that's not it , the seal is on the inside of the trannhy.asdjf;askldjfl;asej.

... I might have just ruined my car I don't know. Because. I was hammering HARD at the axle to get it in. Little did I know that the the tulip of the axle on the aftermarket is shorter than the stock
tulip(the part on the end of the axle that looks like D===, aftermarket is D===, stock is 8D==. so when I looked at it from underneath it looked like this 8D{ stock and
D={ aftermarket)
sooo it didn't look like the axle was IN when it really was, so I hope someone can tell me that all that hammering i did didn't damage something on the inside of my transaxle. Like damage somekind of bearing or something... but it probably did, since nothign but tons of fecal matter has been flying into fans today...

Well if the axel was sticking out like you described then the inner CV won't be touching the seal so it will all just leak out (Like you found out )

Solution, Get some CV's that fit you gearbox.
And hope you didn't smash anything with the hammer.

ok..... i've done this on my aw11 right after i put a new seal in (and it every so slightly does leak....)

if you don't line the axles up 100% or try to shove it in incorrectly you can damage the seal, thus cauing a leak at the bottom of your transmission. Since manuals don't have pans, your diff (where the axles are) is where the fluid sits.

that or you didn't put the drain plug back in?
