Unforunately, after much time and money, my 1988 Toyota Corolla is being officially retired. It basically bit the dust this past weekend. It was the most eventful death I have ever experienced. My first car I passed into retirement, after it would have cost too much for it to pass inspection, second was a major front end accident, that was completely a waste.
This.... this, was sad and terrible. On saturday, I had went to do my errands and I noticed a clanking noise under the hood, and then it started to sound like something was dragging across the ground. I stopped checked under the car. Nothing... checked under the hood nothing loose, I check the oil, and its out. Which is quite odd because I had just put 2 quarts in monday. I get oil, fill it up. Get going, and my brakes are acting up. I stop at a garage, ask them to take a look, because when I checked under the car, my undercarriage is completely soaked in a "fluid" I had assumed was oil. They check it out, I get some gas, the fill up my oil some more, topping it off. I start up my car, and the guy lets me know, my car is experiencing internal engine damage, because it had no oil. He also shows me some problems with the ball bearing. I get in my car drive off before i start crying, without thanking them, because I knew exactly what this meant.
I was giving up my baby, the second I got it home. Well it never made it home, and had to get it towed the rest of the way to my place.
Although Ive only recieved little information from you, Me and Gary (my car, and she is female) thank you, for your time, and help.
I have never actually loved a car so much as I loved Gary from the moment I got her. And I never gave up on her. But unfortunately, she has now given up on me. I think though that I will definitely give Toyota's my first consideration when buying my next car which I hope is soon.
Thanks, and sorry if you wasted your time reading this,
sorry to hear of your mistfortune. I do hope you try another toyota.
Bob..(my female camry) wishes you to come back more often if you could
Dave

Brake lights aren't broken, I just don't brake.

Ahh sounds familiar Bella (My female Rolla) gave up the ghost about 170kms from home BUT i have a happy ending after the intial clunk and a hold the size of my fist in the side of the engine block and a Brand new motor later Bella is still with me today
That's a sad story, it always hurts to let a good Rolla go. At least you tried to diagnose the problem with a mechanic...an old friend of mine saw his oil light come on while at highway speed, but tried to "rush" home before it "got worse". I saw the pics on the news that night, it was the biggest Tercel fire I've ever seen, right on the 427 hwy in Toronto.
I hope you find another Rolla to fill the void.

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
Another transplant is almost stupid, at best.. The car is a 1988 and this is its second engine. I seized up the first one, so I just feel this car and I were no longer meant to be together.
At most the car is worth about 1 grand, maybe even less because of the mileage, and the "used" engine replacement. A new "used" engine may take up to 750$ and and then possibly up to 1000$ to get the work done on the car. I just dont have that kind of money, or enough patience to be without a car for that long.

Wow! My parent's 96 accord in named Bella!
My old corolla sedan (Chuck, or Guido) left me a few months ago, got $250 and it left with a dying headgasket. But I just got another one, my 1991 SR5, I'm really attached to it, but sadly it's got clutch slip and once it goes it's gone...
I'm a stubborn fuck I get attached and will fix the car over and over, condering selling my car if my rims sell for what I am asking but money wise that would be the way to go...
i miss so many of my cars.
my first child that I parted with was OM ( my 87 cutlass ciera stationwagon)
I miss Mushkaka ( my colt)
Habbibi ( accord)
and all the corolla's .. and I mean all of them.....
atleast I know
Tulsi, ( silver gts) and the camry will be with me for ever and ever and ever....
