What's that smell?

I have heard reports on another board that some of the 2003 Corolla's emit a bad sulfur like smell sometimes. Do any of you here have that same experience? Or is it a problem limited to a small group of people?

We have two '03's and neither one has emitted the foul stench. Apparently it's most common in areas where high sulphur is common in the fuel.

I just farted when I saw this post...

I'm just wondering if these cars were 5speed and the owner doesn't know what a clutch slip smells like.. hehehe.. could it be that?

It's no joke. I frequent five Corolla forums and it's mentioned in every single one.

Smells like a rotten egg?
Its a normal thing for catalytic convertor equipped cars, before the cat warms up, it smells horrible.

Incorrect. There IS something wrong and Toyota is aware of it, they just don't have a fix yet. On other forums Hondas, Nissans, and others have the same complaint.

Flashmn-
You don't understand. The '03 Rollas that have the stinkies do it 100% of the time, not just when warming up. I grant you that most are rank until warmed up but this is something alltogether different. It usually goes along with poor mileage.

UPDATE I read on another forum that the dealer replaced the mass airflow sensor (MAF) on an offending 03 Rolla and it cured the problem. It may be worth mentioning this to the dealer because they are stumped too.
