Engine Shampoo 2006 Corolla

Hi,

I'm looking to clean my engine with an engine shampoo. On my 2006 Corolla manual however, there isn't any indication on whether or not I should do it..or if its even advisable at all?

Anyone have similar experiences?

Thanks

Hi,

Im not sure what shampoo you would use. But all i use is gunk (orange) i just use the power wash from coin op wash places with no problem.. i just switch to brush and brush the engine room as much as i can. I've been doing this for couple years no with no problem.. best thing is that there is no oily stuff for dust to stick on.

good luck
Ryan

I use simple green and a regular garden hose with sprayer.. spray it down with water first then spray on simple green and then let it sit for a min then rinse off. you can even use a leaf blower to dry it after lmao...

What kind of conditions do you drive in that a 06 engine needs to be cleaned already, my 03 looks almost like the day I first got it just a little dust sometimes on the black VVT cover ...Radd Guy...

tempting

Unless you have a really compelling reason to do so, like vanity, leave it alone.

If you ARE going to wash the engine, make SURE to heed the warming and cover up electrical connections. might not make a difference in the short term on newer vehicles, specially if you are not keeping it for a while. But those degreasers are hard on electrical and seals, vacuum connections etc.

Good luck either way,
Pete
