01 & custom exhaust: performance gains
I am considering changing out the stock exhaust on my 01 Corolla S 5-spd and replacing it with custom bent 2 ¼ inch stainless steel tubing and a Raven stainless steel muffler. Will I see any real world performance gain or will it only be perceived performance gain. I will not be racing this car, just using it for everyday driving. What will this mod do to fuel mileage? I do know that it will allow the engine to breath better, however, with the ability to better exhaust the engine will it also allow more air to be sucked into the intake, thereby also causing more fuel to be used as well.
Many people do what they hope to be performance mods, however the added performance is really only in their head. Removing the badging from the trunk lid gained me 5 hp, I think? Well, maybe not quite 5 hp!!
