Going to need more information than it's "sputtering".

Sounds like you own a small port AE92 which does need 91 octane due to the higher compression than older 4AGEs. If you didn't put in the right gas, the car will struggle and ping and knock all over the place, fortunately there is an easy fix. Call some paint stores and say you want 2 gallons of Toulene. It's a 112 octane paint thinner. Just dump it into your gas tank once you have enough room. It'll burn in your car just fine, it's hard on fuel lines if you use it all the time, but it's nothing to worry about for just a one tank thing.

FYI: Toulene is also used to make crystal meph and some paint stores are hesistant to just sell it to the general public, so you might need to explain your situation.

Yeah maybe try some octane booster from crappy tire probably would help, then as soon as theres room add premium then keep adding premium untill you get through most of the regular

Octane boosters that you can buy at from auto parts stores don't work. They'll only bring you up a fraction of an octane.

I agree, stick with the specified octane reccommended for your car, for no knock and ping.
Try some octane booster, and see where that gets you.

im at half tank now..could i just put some ocatane 94 to balance it out?

sputtering meaning when i step on the gas..it will bog hard....almost like a rookie standard driving...like buking...make sense

also, is there any other way i could stop this, cause if 91 isnt good enough..what the hell is up wit that, my bike takes 91 and it doesnt sputter...

also could the reason be the fact i have no muffler and there is no back pressure?>

Its got nothing to do with gas.. the guy I bought my 90 GTS from drove it with regular in it without knowing it for a couple of months, he bought the car from his cousing thinking it was an AE86 after his cousin moved to HK. I picked the car up and said.. you know these take supreme eh.. he was like.. Oh ok..

That sounds like sparkplug, cap or wire problems, my car used to sputter a lot when the cap was lose and moisture would get in the distributor. My 89 GTS also did the same thing when one of my old wires used to come off the sparkplug, did it on the highway a couple of times so I ended up changing the wires.
