4A-FE engines.

Hi,
Wich models of Corollas have the 4A-FE leanburn engine? I have a Carina E with that kind of engine and it would be easier to find parts on internet if I knew other models with that engine.

Are you sure that they are leanburn engines that early as 1990? 4A-FE came as leanburn and normal air/fuel ratio.

Not sure.. could be maybe after 93. I'm not even sure it will make a difference unless its internal parts you're after. What's the biggest difference with the leanburn engines?? maybe you would care to explain.

I'm thinking it could be similar to the California Emissions vehicles, somewhat different emissions system.

The biggest difference is the airfuel ratio. Leanburn engines have 22:1 and normal engines have 14:1. The O2 sensor has a different place in the exhaust pipe. The fuelinjectors position and the inletmanifold is modified according to Haynes manual 3256 (Toyota Carina E, mostly sold in Europe.). The injectors are placed in the cylinder head and on the conventional they are placed in the inlet manifold. The gains with leanburn engines are the fuel economy and also the reduction of toxics in the exhaust gases.

I'm aware of what a lean burn motor is, I was just saying that I've never heard of an A series one.

What year is your car??

It is a 96 years Carina E touring. That car came with 4A-FE, 7A-FE, 3S-FE and 3S-GE petrol engines. There was also a diesel engine available, but I don't know wich model. The 4A-FE could be a conventional or leanburn engine. The 7A-FE was the leanburn engine.
The airfilterbox is different too if it is leanburn or conventional engine on the 4A-FE engine.
