aftermarkey headunit on an 06

Hello all, i'm new to the toyota forums and i have an 06 corolla le.

I want to install an aftermarket head unit, (alpine, sony, kenwood, etc) and i was wondering for those of you who did it or have suggestions, what should i use to cover up the the space. The Aftermarket headunit is single din, while the stock one is double (i think).

thanks

I believe you can buy kits that cover up that part, check out parts stores or Audio stores, maybe Canadian tire, Future shop or Best buy might have them.

If you purchase the head unit fron Crutchfields they give you the plate for free.

If you don't purchase your radio from Crutchfield you can still get the bracket from them. Cardomain.com also has the brackets.

If you are changing radio head units you will also want to change your speakers. The stock speakers are real stinkers. Even if you have the JBL unit you will want to change speakers. Those units normally have built in filters between the head unit and speaker especially made for that specific application.

'k. assuming that you've used the stock radio brackets like you're supposed to (they bolt straight to the side of aftermarket decks, I suggest you head out to your local junkyard with some tools. If you look through other Toyotas, some of them come with OEM single DIN pockets that fit exactly in the bottom half of your radio bracket. I would keep an eye out for 4rd gen Camrys, as some of the upper models came with single DIN pcokets with doors on them.

Canada Head Unit

I have the same model but different year, 2003 LE. I bought the stereo dash kit in Toronto, from Best Buy, they had the kit for it. The stereo is on the top portion, and bottom portion is a pocket.

Harvey.

Almost every store that sells aftermarket hu's will have the plate/kit needed for proper fitment. I've also seen some very creative ways on filling the extra compartment, like LEDs behind plexiglass with the corolla emblem in front. Might not suit you but it's something different to consider
