AE92 automatic headlight shut-off.

Have you guys ever noticed if your AE92s have this feature?? I know my 89 GTS does, I can't remember if the 90 does but I have noticed that when I leave the lights on and shut off the ignition, as soon as I open the door, the lights shut off on their own. I never knew I had this feature and then I saw it happen and I was like. cool!

I'm not sure if it was an actual feature OR an option you could purchase back then, anyone know?

My US 1991 SR5 has an auto off feature...they turn off automatically once the battery is drained .

No, my car does not have that feature, although it's hard to forget if you have flip-up lights.

We had an old Mitsubishi (1980). The previous owner installed a buzzer on it which will sound when the engine is turned off with the lights still on. I think this is possible for todays cars. Just have to know the wirings.

I've never heard of a headlight shut off kit, maybe as part of an alarm system but my car doesn't have an alarm.

My car also didn't have that. It made for many drained batteries.

ya the only reason half the time i realize my lights are still on is that they are still up. So when ever i shut off the car i make sure the lights are down so that the lights are on.

Maybe it was a GT-S feature, but only for '89 or something...mine has the same feature. My '90 Camry has it, so when I bought the Corolla I checked and sure enough: as soon as the dome switch on the driver's door senses that it's been opened with the headlights on, they shut-off.

Cool feature, I wish all cars had that (so much simpler than battery drain protection sensors!).

I tend not to forget when I get out and go to turn and either see white infront of my car and the yellow side marker, or the red marker on the rear.
