Void warantee, if I install after market anti theft device?
My wife and I just picked up our brand new 06 Corolla S.
I just found out that our Corolla S "B" package doesn't include anti-theft device as a standard equipment. It only has the standard engine immobilizer system.
This was not made clear to us at the time of purchase when we were deciding between the LE & S "B" package trims. The LE "B" does have the anti-theft as standard equipment.
Anti-theft is important to us since we live in an appartment and I would be to hear the siren if someone breaks into the car.
The dealership now tells me that it would cost $500.00+ tax to get the anti-theft system installed. I know that this is a rip off since I can get a similar after market system installed for approx $150.00. The dealer said that if I go with an after market system it could void the Toyota warantee.
Is this true? What should I do here?
I told Toyota that if I new earlier, I would have gone for the anti-theft system and negotiated the cost into the price of the car or have gone with the LE model.
Soon I'll be getting the Toyota customer satisfaction survey in the mail, and this issue will alter some of my oppinions about my experience in shopping for a new Toyota vehicle.
