4A-C and 4A-F head swap

Does anyone know if there is any major problems replacing the head on my 4A-C engine with the head fom a 4A-f engine. Everything I have found so far makes it look possible and easy, just have to modify my exhaust system as the exhaust manifolds are on different side of the head.
Thanks

It would bolt straight up. I've never done it, but problem areas could be things like the cam belt, and dizzy.

May well be a few other issuse, I wouldn't expect a big performance gain so I hope this isn't going to cost you much money.

What car is this going into? If the engine is mounted longitudinally, you might have some distributor issues

It is going into a transverse mount 1986 Corolla LX - plenty of room.

I don't beleive the timing belt would be an issue cause there is only one cam sprocket and the two cam shafts are driven by gears of the one sprocket.

The only thing I see is that the exhaust will have to be modified.

Preformance gain would be about 20 horse which is all the extra that I need

Any other suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.

Thanks

oh thats right! I forgot the distributor on my 4af is on the back of the head not on the side.

Semdj you will have to cut a hole in your firewall to fit the head in.

As I said my engine is a transverse mount (sideways) plenty of room on the side
No need to cut the firewall - you must have a longtitudinal mount - conventional front to back

Thanks

You know... To see the all the gains you're expecting from the 4A-F head, you may as well swap the entire engine in. I know it's a pain, but you're not going to get all 20 hp if you don't get the 4A-FE pistons in there. Of course, there's always the potential that the 4A-C pistons could result in higher compression and hp.
