TRD Quick Shift AE92

Well, I just finished it... and I will say a few things:

1. The throw is much less
2. The knob is a good weight and helps shift (and looks AWESOME!)
3. The shifter sits about 1/2" taller (measuring from where the stock knob was to the new one)
4. That plastic cup on the ball of the shifter was a BITCH
5. The springs on the side rod on the shifer were a BITCH
6. You have to cut out the plastic insert in the boot (see pic)
7. It feels weird... as it is for RHD
8. I love it!

I really do love it, it's neat! The throw is much better; no comparison to a cut stock shifter. If you can find one, do it!

Problem is, if you aren't able to figure it out, the instructions won't help; they are in Japanese

I did have a question though. It came with 2 aluminum bases. One is 1/4" and the other is 1/8". It looks like in the pic they point to the 1/8" and say 4AGZE (can kinda see in pic), so I'm guessing that the GZE shifter is different? I only put the 1/4" one in there and it seems OK!

Ah.. you got a newer model.. I have the older model with the ball shaped knob. How long did it take you to install?? I might do mine tomorrow or sunday.

About an hour. Take your time, and remember how everything went!

I saw when the person took it out of his car the day I bought it, one hour is not too bad so I should be OK.

Yah, if you look at the instructions it points to the smaller spacer and says 4agze only.

my instructions were in kapanese nothing made sense on it to me so I just put it together how I figured it would go. Changing a shifter isn't the most complex thing ever, most work on a car is fairly simple.

and noddy I think your screwed for getting the trd short shifter the guy at toyota told me mine was the LAST one that was in the inventory. Had to order it from califorinia

Only think I am wondering is if it would have lengthened or shorten the throw buy using both? I really don't want to pull everything apart again to try to figure it out lol. And hell it still goes into gear no problem. Shifter even moves a little in 5th when I let go of the gas just like it did when I got it.

There are still lots of TRD shifters running around for the AE92s, just cause some dude in the states ran out of them doesn't mean everyone did.
