AE92 16v vs 20v

I have done a search on this and havn't found a whole lot of info for the 16v to 20v head swap. I have seen that it takes some work but no one has really explained why. Or atleast that I can find. Can someone touch base on this with some detail on what it takes.

Why would you want to bother doing that when the 20Vs were based off the smallport 16Vs anyways!

Silvertop 20Vs are so cheap now that it makes more sense to just drop one in your car rather than building some crazy hybrid that you don't know if it would even be worth until after you're done.

I'd say 16v untill you get some practice in performance driving etc if thats what your going to do and rape the shit out of the 16v untill it blows that way you enjoy it you learn and you get to decide if you really want a 20v and if you get a 20v you better rape the shit out of it to and enjoy it dont treat it like your little garage queen!! BUT maintain it dont like leave the same oil in it for 50,000 kms or anything and don't downshift from 5th to first or anything silly like that hahah.

haha.. I don't rape mine but I don't treat them like princesses either the Bigport is still alive and it just turned 349,000kms.

However I've noticed that the performance is decreasing slightly and it does not seem to like getting redlined anymore. The bigport has served its purpose well to me and if I wasn't thinking of going with an ST as replacement, I would probably get it rebuilt and maybe turboed eventually.

Meh even Toyotas dont maintain factory performance at 350,000kms eventually there comes a time when the parts get worn out and the performance drops but in toyotas of course this happens after lots of kms not like a chevy where after 25000kms your engines starts inhailing oil(been working at mohawk all cars that leak oil seem to be gmc's) so if you have an old 16v in your car there buddy(looks like a gt-s from the pic) finnish that engine off than decide what to do, you can build a pretty nice 16v for cheap just get a smallport rebuild it and beef up the valvetrain and get bigger cams and you have a fine engine you'd probably want a ems so you could use the full potential of the engine and you really dont need aftermarket pistons unless its a race engine the late 4ag 10.3 comp pistons are teflon coated so they are pretty good quality.
my 4 cents
