Hello all, this is my first post. I have a '97 Corolla (1.6L) that exhibits the following strange behavior: upon startup I can hear a whirring sound from under the hood. This lasts for a couple of minutes or so until the engine has warmed up a little after I've driven a bit and then I no longer hear it. Sometimes it's quite loud and changes pitch with the engine RPMs. If I put the car in "Reverse" the whirring stops immediately - if I go back to "Drive" the whirring sound starts up again. It's hard to tell if it happens more or less on cold mornings...I would venture to say that on warmer mornings this happens more often.
Anyone have any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance for the input everyone!
