Question Swapping?!

I have a 1998 Corolla LE, I'm planning on adding an intercooler, turbo, cold air intake, and all that good stuff. But the one thing that would be holding me back would be the Auto Trans. My friend is trying to convicnce me that swapping in a manual for an auto trans isn't that hard as long as you have the parts. Is this ever worth my time(or possible) or should I just look into buying another car with a Manual trans.

Thanks.

parts is gonna cost you a lot.. labour is also another thing.. IMO its better to buy a manual than an auto and swapping, but if you have the cha ching, and the time, why not?

Well I did find a 2001 Corolla(junk yard- only rear damage), its in the same era so I was going to try to get parts from that because it cheaper and it is pretty much the same car. And for the labor we were going to try and do it ourselves with just need the right tools. I guess I was trying to figure out a price range or if installing it is going to be pain in the ass, I know its going to take time but i don't know, i'm kinda back and forth. Just any suggestions or anything on which way I shoudl go would be great.

Thanks again

for newer cars its worth it to just buy another car with a manual trans, but your car is getting to the point of being in between its its more what ever you want to do
