2003 corolla S drive belt installation

First off let me say that after 6 hours of nothing but problems trying to install a new drive belt, I'll never do it again. I finally got it on but when I went to start the car, IT ONLY RUNS for 3 seconds and dies:sos ad::sosa d:. My day cannot get get any worse. All I'm asking is for suggestions

Welcome to the forum, I have an 03 also why did you have to change the belt ...And was the belt still on after the car died ....I never changed mine yet but I'm sure that the belt tensioner has a slot or something you can get a ratchet or bar into and bend it back making for easy removal....I'll check mine out and see what it looked like ....Radd Guy...

Why did it take 6 hours?! I haven't replaced an '03 Corolla belt (yet - my wife's car needs one soon) so I don't know all that's involved. Did you have to remove anything (other than the original belt) to do the install? Are you sure you have the right replacement part?

Sorry, can't think of a reason a new belt would cause the engine to die other than some sort of improper tension or not putting something else together completely.

If your not going to explain or give anymore info on why it took 6 hours to replace the belt(did you match the belt up old to new?) and what happened when it quit(belt broke- dash lights that went on- still cranked over Etc. Etc...)I'm not sure anyone here can help...Just looking at mine if you have AC the tensioner looks hard to get at so I would have just loosened up the alternator(which is right in front, easy to get at) and eased the belt on, then tightened the alternator back up....Only explanation is you threaded the belt on wrong ...How did you get it off, cut it .......JMHO...Radd Guy...
