Radio Signal Problems

I have a 98' corolla and ever since we bought it, it always has troubles picking up radio stations and when it does pick up the station it will tend to cut out so much that there is no point for the radio at all. My dad remebers having similar problems picking up signals in his 94' corolla when we had it but he is not postive. So if anyone could help with suggestions of fixing this problems that would be greatly appreciated.
