Canada Switching from manual to power steering ?

Hi guys, It's my first time in this Toyota forum (I do VW only , but I just got a 1988 Corolla for wife) The car as I said is a Corolla 1988 16v 1.5 litres ( I guess), No fuel injetion (thanks God, finally a decent car with NO COMPUTER !!! ) auto transmission, my first goal is to convert the manual steering system to power steering, so pleas help with some good advice. I'd also like to know all general information about this car, what kind of engine, transmission, fuel system, or so the car has. What I can touch and what I musn't.

Thanks in advance.

Alfonso.

A 1.5L?? I think you should tell us what kind of engine it has!
I have a 4AFE in my '89, 100hp..etc
But are you sure it's a 1.5L? I've never heard of that before...

No its a 1.6, sounds like he's describing a 4AF carburated motor. Not sure WHY you like carbed motors.. I had a few and I thank God I don't have them anymore.

They're more reliable. Try starting an efi car thats been sitting under a tree for 20 years...

To convert the manual to powersteering is easy. you need.

Power steering pump
Steering rack from a E9 corolla, (camry one will also fit with slight modification)

Pretty much plug and play.
