AE92 Belt sqeaking

Hey people,first off thanks In advance...I just replaced my Alternator in my 1991 Corolla DX...went ahead & got a new belt too...and it sqeaks now when i start the car up...Whats up? do i have to much tension on it? Not enough? or does the belt just need to get...i dunno..Broke in??? cuz man..its annoying makes my car seem like Junk when i start it up...Cant stand broke stuff on the ride...Any help is appreciated

well how good are you with cars? if your fairly decent you can check the belts your self just look to one side of the engine on my car its the side farthest away from the battery and if you look down youll see some belts push on them. they should move a little under pressure not too much though. if they are loose or too tight fix acordingly. and if not mabe somthing that the belt runs is sticking a little like the new alternator or somthing else

check ur pulley. might the bearing inside the pulley that have problem.

If it's squeeking on a new belt, then there isn't enough tension, nuff said. Tighten it up more. I always have to hammer the alternator a little bit inorder to get enough tension. Just pushing the alternator down all the way by hand is never enough.
