Hi i'm looking at converting my rear drums to disc brakes. How do i do it? is there any car i can pull rear disc brakes from to start with? Like some car from a junkyard
You got it Deep, the AE92 Sedan and SR5 don't come with the rear discs, but the GTS does.. Good luck finding the disks and all the lines! You'll probably need to upgrade a lot of things in your car to do that conversion. Make sure you have access to a good GTS so you can take any extra parts you might need.
You'll probably have to upgrade your brake fluid Reservoir, I'm sure the GTS one is bigger to make out for the extra fluid you need for the rear disks..
Good luck, and tell me how it goes. I've actually been considering it.

Then again, why you need disks in the back amazes me, because you'll get handbrake problems what you dont have with drums and on a light car such as the corolla the rear disks can actually be worse than drums ;P
Im going to be doing the conversion from drum to disc myself.I drive an AE 92 Wagon but I want better brakes on my car even though its not a sporty car.I bought the entire back end of a JDM spec Levin(AE92 gts Corolla to the Americans on the board) and am planning to swap parts. It should be straightforward Im told. But check this out,AE92 Sedan if you want more info check this website www.ae92gts.com and have a look around. The webmaster is really cool and he can answer any questions you might have as he and a friend have done the conversion.Lemme know how it goes and when I finally get around to doing mine Ill let you guys know how it works.Youll need the handbrake cables and brake hoses from a GTS,other than that I think everything should bolt on once you have a complete back end to work with.Check the site out.Im sue it will be worth your while!!!

I'd rather take my money and update the front brakes to some brembos, tarox or ap racing ones. Corollas only use the rear brakes at an amount of 15% or so from the front brakes, so even if you had worned out drums, it wouldnt make that big of a difference if your fronts were good.
