I am a big Toyota/Lexus fan, and I currently own three Toyotas. I am dedicated to rear-wheel-drive Toyota performance cars. Call me an incurable optimist, but I continue to have high hopes of seeing the rumored "New AE86" (a spiritual succesor to the original AE86 Corolla GT-S) in the U.S. in the near future. I know that this is a Canadian board, but if there are American readers out there, or Canadians interested in a joint effort (it seems to me that the U.S. and Canadian markets are usually so similar it may be worthwhile) please feel free to contact me. Hopefully there is enough interest in four-cylinder, rear-wheel-drive, 2+2 coupes (not a convertible) that we can convince Toyota to actually make this car, and make it available in North America. I am disappointed that this segment of the automotive market just does not exist here, and hasn't for five or ten years. The possibility of a new affordable Toyota rear-wheel-drive, four-cylinder coupe...a car in the same spirit as the original AE86, and possibly based on the Altezza RS200 platform is very exciting. In August I started collecting names of people interested, and any comments they may have to send to Toyota. Thanks to all of those who replied to me back in August and September, your votes have already been counted by Toyota. I have another round of names and comments I am about to send to Toyota U.S.A., so any and all who would like to express their interest in such a car, please get in touch with me! I don't know if the car is a possibility or just a fanatasy, but it can't hurt to let Toyota know that there are still some RWD fans out there...especially those of us in the U.S.

All those who have an interest in this car, please check out my page and get in touch with me...we need to keep Toyota aware of our future product preferences....Thank you!
