Does anyone have any clue on how to remove the rear seatback? Mine's a base model so it doesn't have the little lever up top on the corners where you can pull them forward. I'm trying to access the strut towers and from the looks of it I can't really do much in the trunk. I have the repair manual from toyota but it's not really helpful.

The bottom section that you sit on should snap in/out. A good tug upward on the front edge will get it out, then you'll see 3-4 12mm bolts which hold the back portion of the seat. Remove those and push the cushion upward to pop the upper hooks from their pockets. This is the setup for '94, yours should be similar.
