My car has done the same thing ever since I fucked up my front bumper. I know it's just air funneling through a broken piece of plastic, though. It only does it on windy days at 75+ mph so I just back off the throttle a little when I hear it and everything's good. The car doesn't pull to either side, though.

A Fix For The Squeal.

I HAD THIS PROBLEM....2005 Corolla, less than 30k miles. Took to dealer, hell of a time figuring it out, and guess what, there were 2 corollas there with the same problem. seems as though the corollas, at least the 05', from the canada plant had bad front window seals, dealer had my front window removed and resealed, now never a problem.

HAVE TOYOTA REMOVE AND RESEAL THE FRONT WINDSHIELD.

Worked for me, no more high pitched squeal on windy days. Persistance gets you somewhere, and I was mad, brand new car, and I couldnt drive it on the expressway without going crazy.

hope I've helped.

I don't think the sound has anything to do with my bumper, actually... could a 2002 Corolla with a replacement windshield suffer this problem as well? How much would it cost to have it resealed?

No clue on costs. My corolla was still under warranty so it was free for me. You could just call up and ask a local dealer about estimates.

I have something similar with my 96. It only happens when I am going 45-50 mph and am barely touching the gas. I am pretty sure that its the position of the accelerator pully under the hood combined with the wind at that speed. If I am going faster than 50 I am pushing the gas pedal further and so I do not have any noise, but if I am coasting down to around 50 and then keep the car at that speed by only slightly touching the gas I get that whistling noise. Strange stuff, but not a real big deal.

sorry to bring up an old post, but I just bought an '06 Corolla in January, and am having this very problem. I suspected it would be a pain in the ass to try to describe to the service center, and next to impossible to reproduce, so I came here to see if anybody else was having similar problems. I'm relieved to see that is the case, and feel much better now that I know it's not just me. I need to take it in anyway b/c I just discovered one of the seatbelts in the back seat doesn't latch, so hopefully I can get this fixed soon.

follow-up

Just a follow-up - on vacation I took this video so you could hear the noise... of course it's much worse than the "usual" noise I had, since this was during a strong, continuous wind.

LINK

After vacation the dealershop arranged to have the windshield resealed, and I've had no problem since.

I had my windshield re-sealed at the local auto-glass place for $35. Never heard the noise again.

That's the exact noise that my aunt has in her 05 Corolla S when travelling between 70-75mph.. the sound is so annoying when trying to pass other people.. now we know what to tell the dealership to fix. Thanks!!
