AE92 ring gear

hey hey......thanks for asll your help from b4 on fixing my ignition coil....

i think my ring gear has started to loose teeth. i go to start engine. starter grabs for like half a second.then freeweels......then wen it stiops i do it again and again.usually like 4 tries......and engine starts,.....this sux because i do not have the facilities to drop my tranny and replace ring gear....and no $$$ to get a shop to do it!!!!!!

any input or sugestions would be appreciated.....

BTW the search only brought up threads on diffs and gear box questions.......

More than likely its the starter not the ring gear! they make the starters gear softer than the ring gear so it is sacrifical.

A good thing to do is remove the starter inspect its gear then put a 17mm socket on the crank pulley bolt and turn the engine and inspect the ring gear through the starter hole

even if you have to pull the trans its easy, all you need is a couple jackstands and a jack and basic metric tools...
