Hmm, probably the shift cables or linkages need adjustment.

I believe pop-outs MAY be syncho related ... that wouldn't be good.

I'm with EK9 on this one, I had the same problem in my 2ndGen prelude, and the fix was, you guessed it... a new transmission.

call me crazy...but I don't believe there are any linkages involved when the shifter sits on top of the transmission. We gotta turn that FWD thinking OFF when AE86 stuff is involved

well, as far as I know, there is some sort of linkages even in the RWD cars, I mean the stick doesnt go directly into the box ;P

..

the only linkage inside the RWD tranny, is integral, the stick does pretty much go right into the box. Certainly nothing that can be adjusted.

your learning quickly. thats simply the best way to fix the thing...so all the newbies should take heed.

trying to find out and fix the problem would probably have cost you in excess of that amount plus labour and time. so f*ck it......just, purchase another one and your ready to go.

nick

ps: where the f*ck did neil come from??? you've been in hibernation?

hahaha yeah Neil, you're a pro at jumping in out of nowhere only to dissapear for another month or so. How's Bigfoot been lately?

While I'm here...what car is this whole subject about anyways? I saw '86 and didn't even realize it was the YEAR not the chassis. I'm still assuming AE86 though.

Flashmn, you've got a knack for passing on some bad info. You might want to have that looked at.

GREAT NEWS!!!

got the replacement tranny and had it put in today.....oh, it drives and shifts so much smoother....its actually a AE82 bodystyle (you know, looks like the mid 80's fwd chevy nova). what kind of engine swaps can I do with this car??? Will the 20v silvertop fit?? Will it bolt to the tranny?? The engine in it now is the 4A family. The paint is immaculate (has not been repainted). There is some small rust areas right behind the front wheels in the rocker panel area....but thats it...
