91 corolla, wont start

91 corolla dx, 2wd, stationwagon. was running fine, engine light came on, pulled over to check. won't start back up. new alternator, battery, coil, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. book says only thing left is ignitor, super expensive. what else could it be?

easiest thing to do is get a second hand distributor if thats where you want to go,

1. are you getting spark?
pull a plug put it in the wire then put the outer body against something metal, have someone crank it, you see a blue spark?
-if yes then its most likely a fuel problem
-if no then turn the motor over with the dist cap off to see if the rotor is spinning

2. getting fuel???
turn the motor over a few times pull a spark plug... are they wet??
-if there wet or smell like gas then you have fuel
-if there dry no fuel!

Check the basics to see whats going on before you spend more money


other wildcard idea would be the timing belt is broken?, try #1 to see if the rotor spins


Also might wanna check what code your getting, from the ECU, someone else will have to help with that proceedure i know you wont need any special tools just dont know the terminals to connect to!
