Is there a walkthrough for a 4af to 4age swap?

I want to get rid of this 4af in my 89 SR5 so bad... it runs like ass due to needing a carb rebuild, but I'm done with this crappy motor...

I have two 16v 4age's at my disposal. One is a 1985 from an MR2 and ha 180,000 on it, the other is a 1986 from an MR2 with 10,000 miles on it (rebuilt). Hmm... which one to use?

Anyways, both motors are still in the complete cars, so I'll have the harness and ECU and whatever.

I've done Chevy small block swaps... but these motors have so many hoses and wires!

What am I getting myself into?

Well I don't think I'll need to go to the junkyard, as I have two MR2's with 4age's in them for parts!

You need a FWD gearbox though, the shifter linkages come in from the other side on the mr2. and you need to sort out fueling, you need new EFI fuel lines and an EFI pump. apart from that should be pretty easy.

Right. I was just going to mod one ot the MR2 C52s. As for a gas tank, lines, and pump, I'm going with new stuff.

or just use the tranny that is already in your sr5...... the transmissions are pretty much the same.... (depending on the year of the mr2 trannies)

the sr5's came with a c50, the gts's came with a c52.... except for the ae82 gts, which came with a c50

the early mr2's have a c50, and later mr2's have a c52 (87 is a split year)
