dual catback for a 99 (how?!!)

i've been trying to find a dualcatback to put on my 99 corolla (becuase it will look better with the bodykit fender), but i havent really been able to find one, are there any places you know of that have one or is there a dual catback for a different car that would fit or could be modified to fit?

i've been tearing my hair out over this
i'm so anxious to get a dual catback on this thing

Since Corollas are not meant to have dual exhaust, you will have to have a muffler shop custom make one for your application.

Why would you bother?? it won't make a difference to have dual exhausts.. if anything your performance could drop. There's a reason why some cars don't have dual exhausts, because they don't need it. On a V6 or V8 you could use it because you have 2 exhaust manifolds coming out on each side for 3 or 4 cylinders at a time, but on a 4cyl motor you only have 1 exhaust manifold.

And yeah, you would have to get it custom done.

how could it decrease the performance, like what would cause the drop?

First, you'll be carrying a lot more weight than a single exhaust and you'll loose quite a bit of backpressure. You need that in helping the engine scavenge the burned gases to the exhaust.

Just make a fake one... Buy an old stuffed muffler on, stick the same tip as the real thing on there, and weld it to the frame with some mounts somehow. All the looks of a twin-exaust, without the performance loss or weight of the extra tubing. Just a thought anyway...

You can get 2 muffler tips and mount them on both sides.

I added a "Y" pipe to my 03 corolla S and had two performace mufflers added on the ends. It looks sweet and it gave it a Loud deep sound. Loud enough to activate car alarms when I rev up. Like someone said earlier you will have to take it to a muffler shop.

Ask them to Y pipe your exhast. I personally have a custom 2-1/4 in catback Y piped with two perfomance mufflers. A friend of mine has just the pipes with a tip. It is much louder, but it is also more high pitch.

I ask you this... why would you want a true dual exhaust? I understand if you have a v6/8 or maybe even a straight 6 but on a 4 cylinder?... oh god

My car has dual exhaust from facotry, yes on a 4 cylinder. If toyota did it from factory it can't be as stupid an idea as you guys make it out to be.

Don't worry yourself about backpressure, it's a total lie.
you have to worrie about tuning the pulses and keeping the exhaust gas temp up all the through the exhaust to the tip.

Man, if you posted this on a forum like Honda-Tech consider yourself flamed and or banned. Seriously, why is Toyota Nation so forgiving to such blatant rice? /rant

"I topped out at 140 today, I'm gonna need a muffler, one of those big ones, no, two of 'em."

Just make sure you don't blow the welds on your intake manifold, or a bunch of washers will come flying out from under the dash.

Its not like a "cat-back" system is going to change performance much anyway, its mostly for sound/looks.

Weight difference?? What, are you serious? Its a road car!
Since your worried about adding an extra 5-10kg I take it your road car has no stereo/rear seats/carpets/sound deadening and that you never carry more than half a tank of petrol, And that your on a diet.

God give the guy a break.

That's exactly why I posted. I'm sick of all the noise these ricers make. As I am typing this, some Sentra on 17s and a fart can just blew by my house emmiting a sound that is less than pleasing to the ears. If he was going to put on one of the higher priced exhausts on, which maintain a low profile, all the while increasing performance, and remaining street legal, then go for it. But getting some cheap "m4d tyte dual muffl0rz" will just result in yet another ricer annoying everybody with his loud exhaust
