2005 Corolla...BEST OIL?

I'm new to the Toyota world.......I'm a jeep guy, bought my wife a 2005 LE yesterday. I use fully synthetic Mobile One in my Jeep.....it sees EXTREMELY harsh conditions and I have always used this oil........all of my Jeeps have had CRAZY high miles and ran as new.

So for this little 4 cyclinder...is fully synthetic overkill? You guys seem to know these motors well. It's a commuter car, will get extremely high mileage quickly so I REALLY want to ptotect this motor.

Is there a Toyota preferred oil? Thanks, folks!

I think asking for best oil is like asking anyone what their favorite beer is. You're gonna get a ton of different answers.

Buy a good oil, change it regularly and you'll be ahead of 95% of the general public.

These enginges are no different than any other. Use whatever quality synthetic you want.

I bought a used 05. I drive about 150 miles per day to work and back. I just switched to Mobile 1 Synth and WIX filter at about 20k. At the 25k mark I hadn't lost a drop and the oil still looked really clean (darn near new as a matter of fact). I will change it at 30k. I ran my Chevy truck to 106k on Mobile 1 and WIX or Bosch filters with 10k change intervals and never had a problem.

I would think that at 25K you shouldn't be losing oil anyway ...106k isn't that much on an engine especially when some people here had/have Toyota's that went 350k and beyond(check thread here for most mileage) ...You probably would have gotten the same results with just some good regular oil and filter....Main thing is to change it regularly...As far as the oil staying clean, some people here say if an oil doesn't get dirty its not doing its job and don't forget your filter is trapping and getting dirtier for 10K with synthetic while using reg oil you have a fresh filter change ever 3k or so.. ..Radd
