steering wheel

i have an ae92 sedan, and i'm trying to remove my steering wheel. I took everything off, including the center bolt that actually holds the wheel in, but it doesn't come out. i know it needs some sort of pursuasion to come out, because they do have those steering wheel pullers out there, but is there a cheaper/easier way to remove the steering wheel (without damaging the steering column of course). any help would be appreciated.

The steering wheel pullers do work. I don't know of any shade-tree procedure that avoids using them.

Just put the nut back on, not all they way just 4~5 turns then pull the steering wheel off. the nut stops you wacking yourself in the head when it comes off.

If it doesn't come off just pull harder.

Not a good idea for a steering wheel, you will damage it. Just pull it off.

The best and only way to remove the steering wheel ...........

undo the nut.
fold the seat right back..trust me !
place two hands on eaither side of wheel
as you pull ..wigle the wheel side to side (pull harder on one side than the other then vice versa very quickly...dont be shy!
if this doesnt work lean over wheel and with all ya might lean back and pull
If this gets it off ..be prepared to end up in the back seat lol
i've done it on many types of cars and have never damage any thing yet......good luck

^^ Ive found that before you do that, give it a few taps with the heel of your hand in about 6 or 7 places working around the wheel. Your hand has less enertia and less leverege than a rubber mallet so it is less likely to just push it on more or damage something and more likely to nudge it loose...
