5a-fe Problems

I have a 5A-Fe engine in my AE91 corolla and it just stopped one day. I found it had stripped the teeth off the cam belt so i checked out the cams and they were all fine and moving freely all according to the specs in the manual. I replaced the belt and checked the timing and set according to the specs but the engine wouldnt fire at all, it had plenty of spark and fuel. I checked the compression on all cylinders and they were all very low ( between 200 and 800 kpa the manual states they should be around 1300 kpa ). So i removed the head to check for damage to the valves and pistons but still nothing. The pistons were undamaged and the valves were seated and operating properly although i cleaned about a cupfull of carbon build up from the cylinders. The head gsaket looked fine no water in the oil but to be safe i replaced the gasket and tried again. Still the engine sounds like it is turning over without the spark plugs in it.............???????????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it just sounds like the cam timing is off, also make sure the crank pulley isnt damaged in any way

Yea I agree with rolla guy, If the cam timing is really far out it will cause low compression readings. Double check your timing.
