Fuel pressure regulators - how often do they break?

So, for the most part - are pressure regulators pretty durable, or are they a part that often needs to be replaced?

Also, if they do break, do they hold to much or too little pressure?

In my case on my 93 OJ Bronco it blew at I think close to 205,000 Mi. And in that case it overpressured the injectors and killed them one by one. Pain in the butt to replace too.

i'm sure your 93 bronco had a TBI setup rather than a multipoint fuel injection setup..... the tbi's have a rebuildable FPR, so i could see that having problems

however, a toyota's FPR is pretty difficult to break. It's a contained unit with a diaphram and a spring (for the most part). If it goes bad, it wouldn't hold the fuel pressure back, and you would be running rediculously rich.

that being said, if you're running too lean up top, i would check the vacuum line that runs to the FPR, as they are rising rate fpr's

The Bronco would have multiport EFI. By 1987 most all Ford trucks had it, from the 300 straight 6 to the 460 V-8.
