60psi for tires?!?

93 Prizm
Inside the glovebox theres a sticker that says the recommended tire pressure is 60psi. That seems incredibly high! I first chceked the door jamb for recommended pressure but its not listed there, the only place its listed is on the sticker in the glovebox.

Does this sound at all right?

60psi would be a maximum. put 30~34 psi in your tyres

Are you sure it wasn't for the space saver spare? 60PSI is way too high for the others.

Yep, I bet that is for your spare tire.

I haven't even seen any passenger car tires that show 60psi in their range. Most show a max cold pressure range between 35 and 44psi. There are a few that are up to 51psi. I only know of a few truck tires that get up to 60 or 65psi for cold tire pressure.

With 60 psi in a normal car tire you'll be lucky if they dont explode when you hit a pothole. I agree...the 60 psi is most likely for the spare.

60Lbs is the recommended pressure for the compact spare only.

Yeah, sounds like it's for the spare.

You should definitely put no more than it says on the tire wall.

60psi is definetly for the spare. had a guy come into the dealership, about 26,000km on it. complaning about a clunking from the front. put the car on the hoist and took a look at the struts and both front were blown, checked tire press. was at 65psi and the tires were wearing out very very bad in the middle
