speedometer died, OD light blinks????

So Im climbing a hill. All of a sudden my Corolla starts shifting eirraticly. Heres the deal. The speedometer does not work, the OD light blinks on and off and it does not shift correctly?

Any ideas? Any chance resetting the ecm (remove battery cable) could help?

The car does that when it is in diagnostic mode, i.e. there is a connection between diagnostic terminals. Look under the hood, pop open the diagnostic box (small plastic box by intake pipe) and make sure there's nothing connecting the terminals in there.

Most likely there won't be anything in there, and hopefully resetting the ECU should do the trick.

Just disconnect your battery cable for like 10 min (enough for the reserve charge to die) and then hook it back up.
