What does it mean when both the "Check Engine" and "O/D" light blink continuously?

I've been having problems with my 95 Corolla 1.8L.

After it died a few times today while idling, (in the parking lot of the local mechanics), I thought I'd read the codes to see if anything new showed up.

I jumpered the E1 & TE1 slots on the Diagnostic connector, and both the Check Engine and O/D lights blinked off and on continuously until I turned the key off. I waited at least 60 seconds to see if it would stop blinking and give me some codes, but it just kept going

Does this happen when I need to reset the ECM, or could this be what's causing the problem w/ my car?

Anyone have any insights?

Try resetting the ECM. Just disconnect the battery for like 10 minutes and then connect it back.

If I remember correctly when both check engine and O/D lights blink continually at a steady speed that indicates no stored codes. There has to be pauses between flashes to indicate any stored codes.
