Hey this is my first post on here. I tried looking but I could not find anyoen one who has swapped a 4age 20v into an ae102/4afe platform.
I would like to know what all do i need?
and Is it a direct bolt in applaction.... if not what engine is?
Yes.. but its better if you keep the C56 that comes with the 20Vs as the C50 has way lower gear ratios. It will work, just the motor won't be up to its full potential with the C50.
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I remember hearing that the 4AFE powered AE101/2 sedans came with the C50 where as the 7AFE powered sedans came with the C52.
wouldn't the lower gear ratio make it quicker off the line and out of corners? you would lose top speed but it's not exactly legal to do the top speed of an ae92 sr5 or gts anyways :p

I doubt you would loose top speed, 20v's don't make enough power to hit rev limit in top gear.

ok... This one i can definately help with. The 20v is a direct bolt-in as far as engine mounts go. The suspension is different, the axles are bigger and the exaust is in a different spot. The wiring is a bitch, but managable.
And the silvertops mostly came with c52 (I have one on mine) and the Blacktops came with c56 or 6 speed (cant remember the number - i think it is c60). All C series boxes will fit all A series engines. Good luck with the swap though, and expect to run into some small hiccups on the way...
Just make sure the belts (including timing) are ok, the injectors are clean and the O2 sensor is clean and not too rusty. Dizzy cap is important, but not too critical, you are more likely to have dirty or corroded plugs than a cracked dizzy cap. This is what i found anyway...

ok now this has come to mind.. would it be better for me to buya 16v for around $600 less.. and put the money towards cams, and such... would I make more power that way, and would the wireing be easyer.
