4age > ke55 ?!!

hello community.

am thinking of buying a ke 55 corolla and either turboing the stock carby engine, or installing a more sophisticated engine. would it be possible to drop a 1.6 litre 4age engine into the bay? has anyone done this? or turboed the stock engine?

any advice would be much appriciated.

Conrad_Turbo from kp61.net turbocharged the 4K motor and he's pushing around 110whp. i'd say spend the money and drop an EFI 16V 4A-GE. good power with OEM reliability.

WHen you get your front cut (the only way to go!)make sure the dizzy is not on the back of the head as the motor came out in many different configs...i have seen a 4age super carged motor in a ke55 and it fits sweet with no mods to the panel work...go easy on ya diff lol

Welcome and nice choice of car, I've always like ke corollas

4age will fit (16v will be easier), you will need custom mounts. Then you need to think about a stronger gearbox, and then a stronger diff (possibly with custom driveshaft) then you will need bigger brakes.......the list goes on.

Yes you can turbo the K series, about 90hp at the wheels seems to be the common number for a turbo K motor.

Whats your budget? whats your skill level?

Just had a look you can use a sprinter frontend eg the brakes..not sure what its called over seas and its diff but will need to be shortend approx $300 aussie

it will be a big project but well worth the effort as they are very light car and with a 4age motor will hammer hard.....a mate of mine put in a twin cam 8v motor out of a early celica and it was a weapon.........1.8 or 2.0 ltr i think with twin side draft carbys....any way some one jumped infront of him so its a write off if you need a pic check this
