car into puddle of water: stopped please help

hi ,

i drove into a big puddle of water in my campus this evening. my 93 corolla just stoped after moving 1-2 feet froward into water. Water even got inside my car about 3 inches (and will be there tonight)..

i left my car in water for (1 hr in water) had to wait for stupid AAA service..

i had to tow my car .. i noticed water coming out of exhaust pipe when it was in inclined position.

please advise me any first aid tips.. any diagnostics that i can conduct when sun is out tomorrow.

i love my corolla... and hope i get that one fixed.

thanks for any advise..

You probably got water into the distributor... To fix it pull off the distributor cap and hose it down on the inside with WD40 both the cap and the distributor. Then blow it out with canned air. Reinstall the cap and fire it up.

If you have a CAI installed and submerged the end of it in water, there is a whole other ball game. Pull the spark plugs, turn the engine over with the starter a few times to make sure the cylinder(s) are not hydrolocked, ( full of water ). Then reinstall the spark plugs and try to start it up.

If you have a stock air intake the hydrolock problem shouldn't be an issue.
