I'm trying to turn off the seat belt chime. I did a search and found this:
1) Turn the car ON, Do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until you it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the brake), As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.
Trouble is, it didn't work for me. I have a small dog, and whenever she moves from one spot in the seat to the other, that stupid chime comes on. I guess I could just buckle the belt when she's over there, but I'd prefer to just turn off the chime once and for all and be done with it.
I have an 06 Corolla. Anyone know how to disable it? Thanks for your help.

Get in the car and turn the key to on (don't start the car,) then change the odometer to display "odo" and not trip A or B.
Turn the key off.
Turn the key back to on. Within six seconds of doing this, press and hold the odometer button. Do so for 10 seconds. Then, while still holding the button, buckle up, edit: then unbuckle. The "odo" display should then change to say "b-on." Push the odo button to get it to read "b-off." Then wait for the display to change back to the odometer. That's it, you're done.
The car will still beep right when you turn it on if you don't have a seatbelt, but it won't beep if you or your passenger unbuckles for a moment. Salvation!
If you're having trouble getting this to work, I did this on my 2005 Matrix XR 5-speed manual with the door closed and no one in the passanger seat.
What you may want to do is if all else fails, loop the belt around the back of the seat and buckle it in that way your dog is comfy and you stay sane. Hope this helps you.

What I did was I went to the bone yard and picked up a buckle similar to mine and just snapped it in when I wanted the buzzer/chimes off I had to grind it down a little because they didn't have any late model corollas like mine there ~Radd
Thanks for the info. I'll try some things a little differently. Who knows, it could just be me messing up the procedure. If all else fails, I think I'll take the advice of Raddman and go to the dump and get another buckle. Thanks again.
