car into puddle of water, no ignition..

Hi ,

my 93 corolla got into a big puddle of water last night. This morining I called a mechanic and he removed the spark plugs, airfilter (completely wet) and we crancked the engine. I saw water coming out of the engines. I dont know if you call this as hydrolocked.. We did this for a while ( he added some oil into each cylinder after a while). The battery died..
the sound of engine while cranking was kind of normal..

And also we dint see any ignition sparks.. (dont know what happened??)

Water even got into the car for about 1-2 inches..

i checked the engine oil, tranny oil (sticks) its not milky .. they are in good shape.

Please advise me what I should do.. Is there any chance that I can fix this car (small price)...

Any comments are highly appreciated...

thanks.

Check ALL the fuses, in car and under hood, in every box.

You said a mechanic checked the car?

You won't see spark jump from the wire, you should install the spark plug back on to the spark plug wire and then hold it close to a ground point or just a little bit away from the engine head, then get somebody to crank the car over and then you should see the spark.

if not you may have fouled the cap/rotor with water. alot of water can ground out the spark.

hope this helps, time may also dry things out

TRy a product called wd40 or rp7..its mainly used as a nut/bolt looserner and comes in an aerosol can..its great for wet or moist ignition parts..eg fuses as ther very hard wipe completly free of moisture....it works a treat but is flamable so let the dust settle first lol
then crank it! good luck

Dont what mechanic did.. he used both ground and a bulb connected to ignition wires (think so). the bulb glown only once and it dies out..

Hi ..

I noticed seat belt check light is on.. and its not turning off. is this problem caused by water? or any shortcircuit?? does this helps in solving the problem with engine not starting?

We cleaned distributor cap, spark plugs with brake cleaner..
