loud squeaking noise from inside car

my car makes a loud squeaking noise when its cold since after we had that arctic cold spell. It's so bad i have to wear ear plugs cuz it so pericing. anyways i though i was the heating sysytem so i dw-40 the fans so there good now, but it still contiunes, also i though it was the cd system, but i was wrong. So now I'm thinking it the speedometer, i know it's on the driver side, dashboard and inside the car, i had my friend drive his car with the window down so see if he hear noise, and he didn't, So can this be anything else that can make this noise? if it was quiet i wouldn't mine, but you have no idea how loud it is, I hate cold weather.

I haven't had that problem personally, but a few other AE92 owners were complaining about it in pervious posts..

Some are saying it is the speedometer cable.. It seems to be related to cold weather..

Is it continuous, or periodic?

it's continuous, until the car gets warm enough which is about 5 to 15 mintues depending on how cold it is.

ok, is there a special type of grease for this cable or do you recommend something else for it?

You could use gunoil. They have a very low freezing temp so it might work pretty well in this case.

where you been man.. we've already posted on another thread that the speedo cable is the culprit.. it's either going bad.. or there's water in it that gets frozen.

Mine does the same too.. specially if its colder than -10 it will squeal for at least 5 mins then it stops. and usually after you go 60km/h.

well i'm probably be coming down for the auto show this weekend. If not i'll be down there from march 6 to 10 with my car, if i don't find something between now and then. As for moving down there still unsure, Still haven't gotten the feel for toronto live style. So we'll see.

Sorry for staying OT here, but Toronto Lifestyle = damn expensive! Some of the guys on here would know that cause they still live at home but its a great city. I moved here 2 years ago and love it... move downtown if you can, the other areas are ok but they are far from stuff, and not as much going on... downtown is where its at!
