Acceleration Weirdness....

Hi everyone! Id like to discuss acceleration with you people.

Scenario 1-

1000 RPM on first gear....pedal to the floor... Vehicle accelerates past 2000 RPM.. feels slight TQ pushback on my seat... as RPMS reach 5K The torque decreases slightly as the engine reaches redline.. Shift to second gear...

Scenario 2-

1000RPM on first gear Vehicle is accelerated with the throttle miday through 3000 RPM Shift to second gear.

Scenario 3- Vehicle is in 4th gear on the highway Pedal is on floor acceleration is fast. Pedal slightly above floor Acceleration slightly increases......

MY question is why does this happen. I think it happens because when you wide open the throttle the computer sees the change from the TPS and gives a signal to add more fuel enriching the mixture thus making it slightly richer than it should be. When the throttle is opened slightly or halfway the TPS sends a signal to the computer, adds less fuel and the mixture becomes slightly lean making the engine run smoother and accelerating faster. Correct me if im wrong people.

I have especially seen that with mh rolla also, and with just about any 4 banger, what I do is just try not to push the throttle all the way, I usually keep it about an inch from full open and it really does awesome,

If yes then why not just say that ^^ its only one line.

Basically yes that is what I am saying, and that is my opinion dont mean to upset anybody, and the reason I said its normal is because I has a 96 Cavy, then a 96 Eclipse, then 02 Protege and finally my 05 rolla and all of then did the acceleration thing, and with all of these cars that I drove all of them soft of lost power if u floor them, dunno why but that is my experience,

Your right man. Last night on the way home the cel came on. This morning I pulled out a system too lean code. I Tested the MAF (haynes manual) and wasnt within range. I also moved the top of the airbox and the car stutterd slightly. Moving the cables behind the MAF sensor also caused stutter in the car. So I went to Kendall Toyota to have it checked out and confirm it was indeed the MAF and it was the culprit. It pays off to have gotten the Extended warranty because The MAF is 158 dollars alone. Now the car accelerates normal On full throttle full power on 75% throttle 75% power.
Im getting regrets now about the KNN in my car. I highly do doubt the oil from the KNN damaged the MAF. There'sno residue of oil anywhere in the airbox or in the intake tube, and the filter has never been washed/ Reoiled. I do not plan in washing it after 30k il throw it out and buy a new one. Also KNN has a statement in theyr website stating about such concern. What do you guys think?

Oil in the K/N filter definately damaged your MAF sensor.

Seen these numerous times.
