A specific engine mount...need help

Help!!!!!!! Has anybody really done this and can help me with advice?

I just got finished trying to install the rear engine mount (the one between the engine and the firewall) on a 1995 Geo Prizm (Basically a Corolla) 5 speed stick shift.

I could remove its various nuts and bolts but I COULD NOT get it out.

I jacked the engine up and down several times.

Yes.... I had the RIGHT and FRONT engine mounts loose/off at this time. They were a breeze to remove compared to the REAR mount

The REAR engine mounts bolts are just too long to clear the cross member, even with the engine jacked to the max.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im assuming you took out the center bolt to gain more space?? if not try that! also you may need to remove the U bracket off the engine!

You can remove the U bracket as suggested above.

Or, you can lower the crossmember that runs from front to back of engine.

First thanks for the replys.

Where on the engine is this "U" bracket?

Second I did unbolt and lower the front to back cross member.

On another forum a master Toyota tech for 25 years says its a real bear to do.

I need more help from someone who had done the rear mount.

It's a royal PITA for sure. Keep trying and you'll figure out the combination. It'd be like telling somebody how to solve a rubik's cube to type it out, ya just gotta be there.
