I just purchased about a week ago a 1998 Toyota Corolla LE, basically its loaded, has every option except for the sunroof (sadly this means it has an automatic

) Oh well... It has 103K miles on it and I paid a whopping $2800 for it... Guess I cant complain, lol. Its a great car. So I was going around it detailing it inside and out (As I do every week pratically) and I found a few things that concerned me... One of which I have already delt with, the other being little... well, rust colored specks down by the front doors on both sides of the car... I origionally though "oh great, I bought a car thats going to rust out in 2 years" but upon closer inspection I noticed that these rust colored "specks" were also on the ding strips located on the middle of the doors (you know, those pointless strips that are too low to prevent dings anyways)... So this gave me some hope... Are the dingstrips on the Corolla made of plastic/vynal or metal? I ask because I used to own a 96 Ford Contour, which had ding strips in the same location, and they were made of plastic...
Id hate to have rust on this corolla... its 2 years newer then my contour, was better taken care of by the last two owners, and it would break my heart to know that my ford contour had no rust on it and this newer toyota does have rust on it.
