zz family engines wll fit, but need HEAVY modification. Any A Series will just slip in and minimal pre-fab is required...

DO you want to keep an auto?
If not a manual tranny will help heaps and give better fuel consuption

The easiest swap would be a 7afe or a 4age 16v..

7afe with a manual sounds like it'll do the job for ya...for the best price and ease of fitment
The next step up would be a 4age 16v motor....100 kw
dont forget you will need to change the wiring harness for a 4age...etc
The 7afe should be a plug and play ..including the ecu...
you will apparently need the headers of the 7afe due to apparently a taller block ...
