i have a 2003 corolla S, i just want to know if its normal for my car to almost "accelerate for like a second" or "rev" just very lighty on IDLE, i've noticed for a while now.

i was outside the car at the trunk area (while it was on)
and i wanted to see if it really did this all time time,
so i stood there and ya...the car did do a lil rev, the RPM needle does move when it does this (but hardly noticeable)

anyknow why it does this, and if so is it normal?

if the engine is cold, yes I believe its normal.

prior to that, i drove about 1 hour on highway
so i doubt my engine would be running cold at that time

If you have your car air conditioning on or even have the vents set to defrost mode the AC could be popping in and out. The ECU automtically readjusts the idle every time the electric clutch for the AC is engaged and it does 'bump' for a second or two before it evens things out.

Yeah, all my A/C equipped cars I've had have done something like that. With the A/C on the Camry idles at like a grand instead of the normal 700 or so.

If that happens while you are sitting in the car make sure the AC is off and flip the vents to heat your feet. Wait a few minutes then flip it back to defrost to see if it blips. My wifes 2000 Echo does the same thing.

If you have been driving a while, the AC system could be warm enough to close the low pressure switch enabling it. Even if it is cold outside; and it will cycle on and off. This is normal and won't harm the air conditioning system. In fact running the AC occasionally in the winter is easier on the seals and cars have big accumulators so the compressor won't see any liquid.

In the summer don't put the vents defrost unless you really need it because the AC automaticaly cuts in on defrost mode and if it is cool enough outside that you don't need the AC on you are wasting both some HP and gas.
