you know how long I have wondered this question? I always thought they were different... you have a 4age? take the manifold off your car and take the 4af one off and try it that way. that would tell you. but wouldn't the bends in it be off on the header since the 4age head is larger because of the cams being farther apart?
The bolt patterns are different, at least between the 4AG head and the 7AF head...although I don't know whether the 7AFE head is identical to the 4AF. If so, then yes, the bolt patterns would be different.
better yet go to a parts store ask for a 4age exhaust gasket then ask for a 4afe gasket then put them up to each other.... that will tell you with the least amount of work

Bolt patterns on the 7A and 4A head are identical. Bolt patterns on a GE are different. Modification WILL be needed. Unless of course you want to buy my 4A-FE headers off me and dont mind paying shipping from Australia

Hey spud !!! I always thought the exhaust manifold were compatable across the range!
I do know for a fack that the alltrax needs speacial secondarys off the manifold as it has to miss the cetre diff housing...its bloody tight when you have a 2.5 inch system..lol
FRom the factory i dont think there port matched so thats why i say there compatable...
As u know the factory does'nt like to change much as the cost is huge for the presses etc.?
eh.... you need to cut off the 4age flange and weld on the 4afe flange
however, when i was thinking about this, i don't even think that would work.... the angle of the heads are different and the 4age may not fit against the 4afe and fit past the oil pan
