Yay!!!! my grad present came early!!! I just ordered a new stereo system for my wagon from Crutchfield. A Dual (name of the brand) headunit with iplug, CD/MP3/WMA, 52 watts by four channels, and Pioneer 4"speakers with a 110 watt peak power rating, and speaker baffles to keep my new pioneers clean and dry, and to improve the bass response!! I paid the extra 3 bucks to get them here fast, so i can enjoy them asap!!!!! Ill post some pics when they get here and after install! Hopefully the install goes easy...I have been taking different panels out on my dash just to see where my speakers will go, and how hard it is to take them out and put them in, and so far its not that hard! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
In case you want to check them out, heres the links for the headunit and the speakers and baffles:
Dual.. they sell their subs at Walmart.. I'd stay away from those though.. I think Walmart has the head units too.. can't remember if they did last time I was there.
While you're at it, pick up a Toyota Wiring harness from Walmart, it will make your life EASIER when it comes to installing it as all you will do is match the wires on the headunit harness to the Toyota wiring harness you bought, then you plug the harness into the plug that comes out of the OEM head unit and you're set.
WOW.. someone that acctually is proud of a dual CD Player... That has to be by far one of the worst purchases ever btw. Not to even be mean but god damn you wasted alot buying that piece, espessially from crutchfield.
I would even be ballzy enough to say that this is probably worse that the stock headunit.
Pioneers won't be that great either. This I have experience with and they arent good.
On a lighter note. Yes you should get a wiring harness like ren sudjested. Will make your installment a million times easier.

The reviews on the dual headunit was really good...the only complaints were that the LED lights were too damn bright, but that doesent bother me. It was actually good for the money, with the iplug and the preamp outputs. And really, I dont think that I made a bad purchase. This was my grad present from my dad, so AI cant complain...and im not....Im not that experienced with car audio, but i remember I had pioneers in my 68 stang, and that shit sounded good........but, everyone else is entitled to thier own opinions, so I cant say anything either...but once I get the stuff, ill let you guys know how it is....but just remember, i aint done with the setup yet.

John
Well as long as your happy with it John, thats whats good.
. Opps sory bout that Just a note that might help...
The rolla front speakers 4inch fit under the dash on each side..in japan they made a box that fits behide them to increase the bass reponse as a dash does'nt do much for this.
My wagon has an overhead compartment in the rear wagon section with will hold 4inch on each side.....but i would'nt put subs in ther as its a small area and not an overly tight area to support them with out vibration..also they sound flat..!
Here is my two bits on a good config for ya wagon if you have the speakers in the rear roof!
Front and read 4inch in std places..two way..bout 120watts a speaker to macth the head unit
Bolt up an amp under the passenger seat(they fit sweet) and run 2x subies in the rear quarter panels...make sure ther tight...might need to make up a template of mdf and just bolt it over the top of the plastic....Cover the timbre with cloth or paint ,up to u.
I made up custom door trims to hold 6inch splits in my front door...EG used the std door trim and cut mdf to size and bolted on..works very nice...i'll get some pics for ya as its cheap and prettie straigh forward to fit ......Need a jigsaw, and router is optional!

Thank you...
cuzman-you were talking about those boxes you put behind the speaker to improve the bass response....im one step ahead of you! I ordered these speaker baffles to keep the speakers clean and dry, and improve the bass response!
ummm the ones that behide the dash! there a good size.eg only just fit
Not sure what ya talking about as behide the dash is free of water dust ect..
If your talking about a part for a door fitting im not aware of its exsistance..
Please explain....
thanks mate .........
small little foam baffles.....goes behind the speakers when installed...about the size of the speakers themselves...look at the top of the thread, and look at the last link i gave...the baffles are the first item at the top of the page.
