Question How do I install an MSD to my Redtop Distributor?

I kind of asked this in another thread but didn't seem to get any answers...So I will refrase my question.

Anyone have experience with hooking up a MSD aftermarket ignition systems to a 4AGE Red Top Distributor to make it control the spark without using the ECU?

I need some way to control spark for my project and I am not so far finding any info on how I can do that. Any suggestions other than Mega Squirt?

Thanks

I've seen it done, I know it can be done.. I just don't know how.. someone knows! come on guys. I'm guessing a Toyota specific shop would have a better chance.

What kind of control? Stock ECU won't run if it diesn't see spark signal. MSD only adjust spark timing and still need ECU to tell it when to fire.

4age distributors won't work without the ignitor.... meaning, without the ecu

you need to use an older distributor with a 4age mounting plate (how 4ag carb setups are done)...

OK, Thanks guys.

I don't have an ECU or Red Top Harness anymore. I was just planning to use my SR5 Harness to control the Alt. and Starter.

This is just needing to be simple. No Fancy stuff. Just bare bones.

Is there away to use my SR5 Distributor Pigtail plugs or connection wires to run the MSD or a Different 4AGE Distributor?

What Distributors have been used successfully? Or What have others done to make this work? I have access to about anything engine wise and know a machine shop that can make me an adapter or whatever. I would be willing to even use non-Toyota parts as well if I have to..lol.

I have one friend that has done this to an early Celica but I still can not track him down to ask.

Thanks
