KNN Filters And MAF Sensors

I've found rumors online that KNN Filter oil damages MAF sensors. I installed my drop in filter 8 months ago on my car. Today I had to replace my MAF sensor. I dont know if the Filter oil caused my sensor to go bad or not but i highly doubt it. There was no oil residue from the filter in any part of the top airbox or tubing or even in the old MAF. http://www.knfilters.com/massair.htm < They say it clearly there, But who knows if its some marketing scam, like the tornado on ebay or the electric supercharger. Right now im questioning about removing my KNN and going back to the OEM Filter. What should I do?

Yer mate! JUst a note ..i read the k&n web sit and i'd agree with that hands down..!
The maf is just basicly a gate system that opens more with vacume from the motor
If look at the top of one you will notice a dark black piece of plastic usually in the shape of a large (D) this comes off with a screw drive.flat head as its usually glued on with a type of silicon..under neath u will see the electronics..basicly as the air gate moves it moves a steel needle like a tacho on a circuit board adjusting the resistance so the computer(ecu) knows were it is! and heance how much air is passing throught it..if for some reasion this gets contaminated with grime..just go to an electrics shop and get a non conductive cleaning solutuion.....Make sure you disconect the power wires to be on the safe side..(not the batt as it might reset you ecu) The maf senson is also adjustable ..it will be obvius how to do this when you pop the top of...(dont reconmend unless you have a good multi meter........with your k&n filter make sure you clean it reg and remove all excess oil.....eg ring the crap out of it.....or let it sit for a bit to make sure the exsess oil has gone out the underside of it..and give a second wipe with suitable material..

I had the same problem with my T100 and there was a sight that said to use electric contact cleaner, spray the wire inside different models have different sensors, it might save you some $$$.

Different car, but same method of cleaning.
The Mazda6 MAF looks identical to the Toyota Corolla 05 by the way

i will stick with a stock filter because I live out in less populated areas and don't want dust to get into my engine because the knn filters don't filter as well as the oem.
